About the Conference
The Cape Town Theology Conference is an annual Patristic, Reformed, Confessional, Evangelical, and Academic conference for the church.
Its aim is to retrieve the riches of the historic Christian tradition and bring them into conversation with contemporary theology for the service of pastors, students, scholars, and local churches.
Our approach
Four disciplines, one doctrine.
Each conference explores a central doctrine of the Christian faith through the complementary disciplines of biblical, historical, systematic, and practical theology, demonstrating how careful exegesis, historical retrieval, confessional theology, and pastoral application belong together.
2025–2027
A theological trilogy.
The first three conferences form a unified theological trilogy centred on the classical doctrines of God and redemption.
Africa’s Gift to Nicaea (2025) recovered the doctrine of the Trinity through Scripture, the Nicene tradition, and its reception in the Reformed confessions.
Creation Regained (2026) explores the biblical doctrine of creation, tracing its development from Genesis through the early church and the Reformed tradition while addressing modern questions concerning science, culture, and Christian scholarship.
God Who Became Human (2027) examines the person of Christ, bringing together biblical Christology, the Christological controversies of the early church, Reformed theological reflection, and the practical implications of the incarnation for Christian life.
Theological renewal
Together, these conferences seek to promote theological renewal by recovering the wisdom of Scripture, the Church Fathers, and the Reformed confessional tradition.
They encourage rigorous academic scholarship that remains deeply rooted in the life and worship of the church, equipping Christians to confess the historic faith with clarity, conviction, and confidence in the modern world.
